Red Cross Responds To Flooding Around The Province
LETHBRIDGE - To help those affected by the flooding across the province, the Red Cross has
sent people to a number of communities.
The Lethbridge Branch of the Red
Cross has people in Medicine Hat, Nanton and Siksika First Nation to help with
registration and answer questions.
Jim Christie with the local Disaster Management Team believes another important aspect is connecting families with
loved ones who have been displaced. He says "the people who have been affected
in some of the worst hit places like High River and downtown Calgary are raising
concerns with friends and relatives all around the world and what we're trying
to do is provide some humanitarian relief by helping them get in touch with
friends and loved ones."
Christie says it's the biggest disaster he's seen so far, when you consider
how many communities have been affected, with six communities in critical shape
all around the province.
