TABER: A man from Lethbridge and another from Taber are facing charges in relation
to an arson in Taber.
Around 3:35 on the morning of Friday, July 5th, Taber Police and Emergency
Services were called to a residential fire in the 5200 block of 45th Avenue.
An investigation revealed the house had been broken into, damaged
extensively, and then set on fire. A damage estimate is still being determined,
however, there is significant property loss due to the willful damage, fire,
smoke, and water damage. No one was injured but, a pet lizard died as a result.
23-year old Shane Journoud of Lethbridge, has been charged with Arson, Break
and Enter commit mischief, three counts of failing to comply with release
conditions and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Journoud
waived his bail hearing and made his first appearance in Lethbridge court on
24-year old Chris VanMeer of Taber, has been charged with Arson, Break and
enter commit mischief and failing to comply with his release conditions. He
waived his bail hearing and is to appear in Taber court on tuesday, July 9,
