LETHBRIDGE: A rather high tally for impaired and dangerous driving charges over the
weekend. There were two separate cases of impaired driving on Sunday alone,
including one in which a child was struck.
The escapades began about 5:30 Saturday afternoon, when a company truck was
reported stolen from a business along the 3000 block of 2 Avenue North. A short
time later, police got a citizen's report of a vehicle matching the description
along Mayor Magrath Drive South. When Police conducted a traffic stop, the
driver displayed signs of impairment.
Jessy Allen Misson, 21, of Lethbridge, is charged with theft of a motor
vehicle, impaired driving, driving over .08 and dangerous driving.
On Sunday, just after 4:00-pm, police responded to a report of a single
vehicle collision at the intersection of 13 Street and 6-A Avenue North after a
vehicle jumped the curb and sheered off a light standard. The driver was
taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation determined the driver had been looking down at a cell phone
at the time of the collision. During a search of the vehicle police also
recovered a small quantity of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. 38-year old
Lisa Aleen Reich Navrot, of Lethbridge, is charged with dangerous driving and
possession of a controlled substance. She is scheduled to appear in court July
Unfortunately, police were not done dealing with possible impaired drivers.
The next incident happened just after 8:00-pm Sunday, when a vehicle left the road
along Canyon Blvd West. The vehicle's occupants left the scene before police
arrived. However, officers tracked down the driver. 28-year old Chad Alvie
Bjornson, of Lethbridge, is charged with impaired driving and driving over .08.
He is scheduled to appear in court August 27th.
Then, at 8:45 Sunday night, a four-year old girl was stuck by a vehicle
that was being backed up in a parking lot along the 1100 block of 5th Avenue
north. The child was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. 26-year
old Felisha Danielle Red Crow, of Cardston, is charged with impaired driving,
dangerous driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. She is scheduled to
appear in court September 3rd.
