LETHBRIDGE - After the recent flooding across southern Alberta, there are concerns about
the condition of the local waterways.
Environment and Sustainable
Resource Development are currently testing rivers and reservoirs in the southern
part of the province.
Public Affairs Officer Renee Hackney says "I know there was a lot of concern
about higher levels of e. coli from the Calgary area and if those (bacteria) flow down-stream. We
can't speculate how much would flow into this area but we are asking people to be
cautious in the river bodies and recommending that they stay out of them as the
rivers are high, flowing fast, and there is debris and other contaminants in
