LETHBRIDGE: Exhibition Park will be putting the former Henderson Lake campground to good use next week during Whoop-Up Days.
The city closed the campground in January and turned the eight acres of land over to the Exhibition.
Exhibition Park General Manager Rudy Friesen goes over a use for the extra room that you may not notice, but should help you get in a little faster, "One thing that we're going to try this year, is we're going to try separate exhibitor entrance through the campground to the exhibitor parking, which we hope will alleviate traffic congestion and line-ups, especially during those key peak times that you see kind of around the supper hour when there's also an exhibitor shift change over."
Friesen also discussed another important element of expansion, "The key for us I think is just the additional space. Space for storage of equipment, getting it out of the way, storage space for some of the West Coast Amusements equipment that they bring into town to set up the midway. All of that allows us to free up more space on the site itself that we can utilize for other things like parking etcetera."
In addition to getting the extra room, more developments and improvements will be coming to Exhibition Park down the road. Friesen noted that they will have displays and brochures in the main pavilion, to give you idea of what the future will look like.
