Liberal Leader Raj Sherman Visits Lethbridge For Whoop-Up Days
LETHBRIDGE - Liberal Leader Raj Sherman is in town for Whoop-Up Days activities.
Sherman says he's hearing concerns about plans to consolidate ambulance
dispatch services. He believes Lethbridge has one of the best integrated EMS
services in the province and to take that away doesn't make sense and it will
further fragment health care delivery.
Sherman is also meeting with student leaders about provincial government
cutbacks. He says "they're quite concerned about the number of job losses in the
community at the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College, the students
are concerned about lack of access to enough teachers and educators, they're
concerned about how much their tuition is."
He thinks these funding cuts are actually going to hurt the economy, because
Alberta needs skilled workers now more than ever and the government should be
investing in education not cutting back.
