Young Offenders Charged With Extensive Mischief Damage
LETHBRIDGE: Five teen boys have been charged with mischief over $5,000 for graffiti
vandalism at the skate park in north Lethbridge.
It happened sometime overnight between Monday and Tuesday at the site along
the 600 block of Stafford Drive North and was discovered by city employees.
Members of the Property Crimes Unit found numerous tags, drawings and other
markings. They also seized multiple cans of spray paint and a skateboard.
Police arrested a 16-year-old, three 15-year-olds and one 14-year old.
While the teens are scheduled to appear in court on September 11th, the
investigation continues. Before the incident this week, there had been a
noticeable increase in graffiti in the Westminster neighbourhood over the past
few months. A number of those incidents involved some of same “tags” that were
found at the skate park.
