Blaine Hyggen Takes a Third Shot at a Spot on City Council
LETHBRIDGE: The list of contenders for a spot on city council continues to grow.
For a third straight time Blaine Hyggen has stepped forward, saying he wants to increase accountability, "First I'm not seeking a position on council with an agenda to spend money. I want to ensure the tax payer is not being raked over the coals. Our city has benefited from practically the same council for years, and as a new councillor I believe I can be that energizing force. I plan to pose the right questions and do the proper research, so that I'm not a rubber stamping member on council."
As for his past failed attempts at landing a spot on council, Hyggen noted that he is undeterred, "I was a candidate in the 2007 and the 2010 election and was extremely happy with the support that I received. Although barely unsuccessful with obtaining a seat on council, I continue to have a strong desire to serve the citizens of Lethbridge. A quote comes to mind, 'if at first you don't succeed, try and try again'."
Hyggen added that he plans on being very active through social media, making him more accessible to all members of the community.
