Election Candidates Need To Follow Sign Guidelines

LETHBRIDGE - Campaign signs are popping up around the City as we get closer to the municipal election, but there are rules that need to be followed.

All signs must include the candidates name and contact information, as well they cannot be greater than 0.6 meters by 1 meter.

Signs cannot be placed on centre medians, traffic islands or roundabouts. There must be a minimum spacing of 20 meters between the same candidates signs and they must not be placed within 500 meters of a construction zone or within a school or playground zone.

The City of Lethbridge has posted a list of all the rules at http://www.lethbridge.ca/City-Government/Elections/Pages/Election-Signs-for-Candidates.aspx.

If the rules are not followed, signs can be removed without notification. Candidates can contact Craig Richter in Traffic Operations at 403-320-3183 to get signs back.
