Cheese Recall Due To E-coli Includes Product Sold In Alberta
LETHBRIDGE: A warning and product recall were issued on Tuesday from the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Gort’s Gouda Cheese Farm not to consume specific
cheese products because they may be contaminated with E. coli..
The recall stems from a recent outbreak of the illness. The B-C Centre for
Disease Control has stated one person died and three others have fallen ill
after consuming cheese produced from the farm. Several other cases are being
The farm's products were sold at the manufacturer's outlet, as well
as retail stores in Alberta and B-C and through the Internet from May 27th to
September 14th. The products were also sold from deli counters with or without a
label or coding.
The recall involves a long list of raw milk cheese products with various
