Men To Learn What It's Like To "Walk A Mile in Her Shoes"

LETHBRIDGE - Men will slip into high heels and walk around Galt Gardens for a good cause on Friday.

It's the 3rd annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event to raise funds for the YWCA's Family Violence Programs. The event is symbolic in that it's about taking a step away from domestic violence.

CEO of the YWCA Kristine Cassie points out fundraising events like this are extremely important. She says "a program like our Womens Emergency Shelter, we saw 612 women and children that resided with us last year and there's a lot of needs that come with that. Everything from diapers and formula, to of course the counseling time with staff, safety planning, there's emergency transportation that we provide." Cassie adds "without this type of funding it's very hard to keep things going."

You can make a donation to Team Country 95 at  http://walk.ywcalethbridge.org/T

The event takes place at noon.
