Pronghorn Scholarship Breakfast Features Olympic Guests
LETHBRIDGE - Gold medalist Mark Tewksbury and Hall of Fame Coach Debbie Muir were the
guest speakers this morning at the U of L Pronghorn Scholarship Breakfast.
During their talk, Tewksbury and Muir gave a few tips about how to be better
professionally or personally and focused on things like collaboration and
Tewksbury outlined his path to winning a gold medal in the 100 metre
backstroke event at the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona. He never thought he
would use the video as a teaching tool 20 years later. Tewksbury says "the race
is filled with all kinds of metaphores." He adds "winning on the last stroke is
I think what most businesses go through in the fourth quarter of their year and
they're feeling like, ugh, I just want to stop, but it just shows you can't
stop, it isn't over till it's over."
The Pronghorn Scholarship Breakfast was launched last year during the
University's 45th anniversary and raises money for U of L student athletes now
and into the future. Muir says "it is so important to be able to have access to
funds so it allows them to do their school and do their sport at the highest
level. Without these kinds of events and without these kinds of scholarships, we
wouldn't have that."
