Manslaughter Charges Reduced to Aggravated Assault for a Pair of Local Men

LETHBRIDGE: Two men charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 63-year old Barry Pelletier last February, have had their charges reduced to aggravated assault.

On February 16th Pelletier was attacked by two individuals in the area of 18th Street and 2nd Avenue South, because they thought he was responsible for a theft.

EMS took Pelletier to hospital for blunt force injuries, and he died four days later.

Scott Randall Ostby was 28-years old at the time of the attack, while Randall Clarence Ostby was 61. No explanation was offered during the brief court appearance as to why the charges were reduced.

They will return to court next month.
