Taber Man Charged In Collision Which Sent Teen To Calgary Hospital
TABER: A 63 year old Taber man has been charged with refusal to
provide a breath sample after a collision Wednesday night sent a bicyclist to
The incident happened around 9:40. According to Police, an
RCMP Collision Reconstructionist determined a 15-year old girl was headed
eastbound on 56th Avenue at 52nd Street in Taber and went through a yield sign
and collided with a northbound pickup truck that had the right of way.
The girl was taken to Taber Hospital and then flown to
Calgary by STARS. She was initially listed in serious but stable condition.
Taber police began investigating to determine if alcohol was
a factor in the collision. The 63 year old driver of the truck was arrested at
the scene and has been charged with refusal to provide a breath sample. He was
released on a recognizance and will appear in Taber Court on October 8th.
Taber Police are consulting with Crown Prosecutors to
determined if other charges should be pursued.
