Three Fire Departments And Local Farmers Extinguish Coalhurst Grass Fire
COALHURST: It only takes a spark and with the wind paying Southern Alberta a visit this
week, there's always a chance there could be more grass fires in the region. Caution is called for.
On Sunday, Lethbridge RCMP were called out to help the Coalhurst Fire Department deal
with a large grass fire just north of the town that was encroaching on the north end of Lethbridge.
Fire departments from Nobleford and Picture Butte were also called out. With
the action from those departments and assistance from area farmers the fire was
quickly brought under control and extinguished, in spite of wind gusts up to 100-kmph.
RCMP indicate the fire was not the result of foul play and is believed to have
been caused by farm equipment which was operating in the area. No injuries were reported.
