School Bus Driver Charged in September Collision With Cyclist

LETHBRIDGE:   Regional Police have charged a 35-year old school bus driver in connection with a collision last month.

About 7:30 on the morning of September 17th, a cyclist was struck by a Palliser school bus in the 2800-block area of Whoop Up Drive West. The bus was eastbound when its right front bumper collided with a 53-year-old female cyclist who was also eastbound.

The victim remains in hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of the collision there was one child on the bus who was not injured.

Sun glare was determined to a factor in the collision. However, Brandy Neta Anne Mecklborg, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of driving too fast for the conditions. The violation carries a fine of $172.
