Semi Roll-Over Results In Charge Against B.C. Driver

LETHRBIDGR: ***Up-DATE as of 4:00-pm

A 33-year old semi driver from Coquitlam, B.C. has been charged with careless driving, after a roll-over early Friday morning shut down a city off-ramp for several hours.

The incident happened at 5:00. An investigation determined the driver was north-bound on Mayor Magrath Drive south and tried to exit onto west bound Highway-3. The driver unsuccessfully negotiated the west-bound ramp and the trailer load shifted to the right as the vehicle continued to make its left turn. The semi then rolled, with the the passenger side coming to rest on the cement guard rail.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was leaking engine fluids. The trailer was carrying approximately 52,000 lbs of plate-glass; most of which was broken in the crash.

The driver was not injured.
