In total, these companies employ 4,500 people, which is 9% of the city's labour force, and generate more than $2-billion in annual
revenue. The survey also showed 50% of these companies are expecting to
increase their workforce over the next year.
CEO of Economic Development
Lethbridge Cheryl Dick says they can use this data moving forward by working
with other companies who are interested in Lethbridge. She says "we can show
them that agri-food is one of our anchor industries, it's not going anywhere,
it's growing significantly. We can talk to them about the depth of manufacturing
that happens here and we can show them some of the opportunities in information
technology because we have a good handle on what the local market is doing."
