LETHBRIDGE - Terms are up for a couple members of the Lethbridge Regional Police
Chairman Doug McLaughlin and Alex Hann are leaving after
serving two three-year terms, which is the maximum allowed under the municipal
McLaughlin says it was more interesting than he ever thought it would be. He
adds "I don't think that the majority of citizens in any community realize
what's needed in order to make sure that the service does what it's supposed to
be doing. I don't think the majority of the citizens realize the workload that
the members of the police service carry with them 365 days a year, 7 days a
week, 24 hours a day, they're on call and I've been out on ride alongs and they
do a magnificent job."
Two new members of the public will be chosen to join the Police
Commission to fill the spots, as well City Council will choose two
representatives at a meeting in November.
Lee Curforth will take over the position of Public Complaints Director from
