LETHBRIDGE: 32-year old Memphis Mathew Gros Ventre Boy of Lethbridge is heading to prison for the next two years.
Thursday morning in Lethbridge provincial court, Gros Ventre Boy pleaded guilty to an incident dating back to February 13th of this year. A 13-year old girl ran away from home and went into the downtown core to find her boyfriend, and instead met Gros Ventre Boy. He suggested they drink together, which they did, and he then suggested they have sex, which once again they did. Afterwards Gros Ventre Boy asked if the girl wanted to make money and told her she should prostitute herself and give him the money.
They parted ways and the girl flagged down a taxi. Once inside she offered sexual services to the driver and he accepted. The girl then went looking for Gros Ventre Boy to give him the money she had just made, but couldn't find him and was later taken home by Regional Police.
During sentencing Gros Ventre Boy's lawyer stated that because of the alcohol her client had consumed that evening, he didn't really remember what had happened.
The actual sentence came in at two years and eight months, however he was given credit for eight months already served in pre-trial custody. He will also go onto the sex offender registry for the next 20-years.
