Trio of Agencies Join Forces to Help Less Fortunate for Christmas
LETHBRIDGE: The Interfaith Food Bank, Lethbridge Food Bank and Salvation Army are coming together for the Christmas season. It's the seventh straight year that the three agencies have worked together.
Interfaith Executive Director Danielle McIntyre explained that while they still need the necessities, they're also looking for a few extras, "Christmas is a special time and so we want to make sure that families have an opportunity to celebrate with some of those extra things that we see at Christmas time, so turkeys, hams, stuffing and cranberry sauce, and those treats and toys that we associate with Christmas time are always appreciated."
The trio is aiming to support roughly 2,000 households in the Lethbridge area, which includes at least 1,500 children.
To help coordinate the effort, McIntyre noted that the three are using the joint website www.ChristmasHope.ca. It will feature progress on what they've collected and what they're still in need of throughout the holiday season.
