LETHBRIDGE - Ted Menzies has announced he's retiring from politics after nine and a half
years as a Member of Parliament for the Macleod riding.
Over the years, Mezies has served in a number of key positions including as
the Official Opposition Critic for International Trade and International
Cooperation, Parlimentary Secretery to the Minister of International
Cooperation, Parlimentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade,
Parlimentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, and most recently as Minister
of State (Finance).
On Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Stephen Harper thanked Menzies for his
many years of devoted service to his constituents and for his tremendous
contributions to the government.
A by-election will be called within the next six months.
