LETHBRIDGE: Regional Police have charged two city residents in relation
to a Westside incident on Tuesday afternoon, involving a motor vehicle colliding
with numerous parked cars and a building.
An on-duty officer stopped a male and female in the parking lot of 15
MicMac Boulevard West to investigate a drug complaint. The male occupant of the
motor vehicle started the engine while officers tried to stop him from leaving
and accelerated backwards, ramming a police car parked behind him.
The officers were knocked off the vehicle in the collision, but were
not injured. The man then collided with numerous parked vehicles and a cement
pillar in an attempt to escape. When the vehicle became inoperable because
of extensive damage caused by the collisions, the man fled on foot.
29-year old Michael Newman Davies, has been charged with numerous
criminal offences including dangerous driving, assaulting a police officer with
a weapon, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, failing to remain at the
scene of a collision, and possession of cocaine. A warrant has been issued for

41-year old Heather Elizabeth Jones, has been charged with
obstructing a police officer and possession of cocaine. She was released from
custody to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court December 19th, 2013.
