Southern Alberta: Small actions make a big difference.
That's the theme of National Addictions Awareness Week. The week kicks-off November 17th and runs until November 23rd and raises awareness on substance abuse and problem gambling.
Events will take place in Lethbridge , Fort Macleod and Medicine Hat to highlight prevention and how Albertans can play a role in raising awareness.
-The first weekend, representatives from the Community Substance Abuse Response Team will visit local nightclubs and bars to promote safe drinking.
-Daily announcements will be provided to schools.
-The U of L will raise awareness through placemates in the Cafe'.
In Fort Macleod:
-A family skate will be held November 22 at the Fort Macleod Arena.
-Placemats promoting low-risk drinking guidelines will be used in local bars.
-The Medicine Hat College will do a number of awareness raising activities on November 18th.
-An information display will be at the courthouse on November 19th.
-Lunch and learn sessions will be held November 20th and 21st at Notre Dame and St. Mary's middle schools.
