After One Month South Zone Confirms 36 Cases of Measles

LETHBRIDGE: From one confirmed case 32-days ago, the Alberta Health South zone is now confirming 36-cases of measles.

The first case of measles was confirmed in a 14-year old Coaldale boy on October 18th.The boy had recently returned from a trip to the Netherlands.

Last Wednesday, Alberta health noted all cases to-date were in unimunized patients. Most of the cases are in the Coaldale, Lethbridge and Fort Macleod areas. While immunization clinics have been added in the Lacombe area, there are no confirmed cases outside of the south zone.

The next local measles immunization clinic takes place Wednesday at Exhibition Park from 2 to 7-pm.
