LETHBRIDGE: With temperatures dropping over the last few days, the Lethbridge Shelter and Resource Centre is asking for your help.
Resource Centre Coordinator and Diversion Team Leader Yolanda Weasel Head explained that they're looking for donations of winter clothing for their clients, "The clothing would consist of warm jackets, boots, gloves, hats, scarves, maybe some socks just to keep people warm. They spend a lot of time travelling on foot."
Weasel Head also went over the major health issues they start to see this time of year, "People suffer with foot care especially, their feet become really cold and they start to develop some type of frostbite or sores or stuff, and that's even relevant with the hands as well, because sometimes they are able to get sweaters and layers, but they don't have the gloves or the proper socks or their feet are wet."
In addition to the necessities, Weasel Head explained that they're also trying to put together Christmas packages for their clients. For those they need things like razors, combs, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
To get involved and make a donation, you can either call 403-327-1031 or go into the shelter at 802 - 2A Avenue North.
