City Council Travel Budgets To Be Posted Online

LETHBRIDGE - You'll be able to track the travel budgets for the Mayor and members of City Council in the new year.

The City will begin posting detailed and itemized reports on their website showing the travel expenditures. Councillors get $7,000 a year, while the Mayor gets $18,000.

Councillor Wade Galloway brought the motion forward and feels it really speaks to openness and transparency. He says "there's been no problem with people overspending the budget, but part of providing confidence to the public is letting them know exactly how and where we're spending the money and making sure that we are getting value for those dollars."

Galloway adds other cities in the province are already doing this like Red Deer and St. Albert.
