LETHBRIDGE: Lethbridge County is urging residents in
hamlets to make sure their house number is correct and clearly displayed on the
front of their home.
Emergency Service Coordinator Darryl Beaton talks about why the numbers are
important, "The primary reason for municipal addressing is emergency response,
so that ambulances and fire-trucks, rescue crews can get to the right house as
fast as they can, and obviously a house number is the way we pin-point those
Beaton also explained why some residents may not already know their number,
"Municipal addressing in Lethbridge County is relatively new. The bylaw and the
system was put into place back in 2009 and 2010, so it's a bit of an evolution
in the county to adopt municipal addressing."
The hamlets included with the county are Monarch, Kipp, Diamond City,
Shaughnessy, Iron Springs, Turin, Fairview and Chin.
You can find your house number by calling the Lethbridge County office at
403-328-5525 and asking for Shona Watson or Mike Bly.
