Vehicle Destroyed in North-Side Residential Fire

LETHBRIDGE: A total of 22 fire fighters turned out to battle a house fire in the 2100 block of 12th Avenue north Thursday afternoon.

Fire Chief Brian Cornforth explained, "Just after 2:00, fire crews were alerted to a fire in a house. On arrival, they found heavy fire involvement in the (home's) car-port area and the fire had also extended into the house. We had three stations on scene here."

A vehicle in the car-port was destroyed in the fire.

Fire investigators have determined that the fire started on the outside of the home in the car-port area. As for the cause, while investigators are still waiting for forensic experts to verify their conclusions, it is believed that the vehicle in the car-port was the source of the blaze.

The initial damage estimate is placed at approximately $400,000.
