Landlords Warned To Watch For Fraudulent Internet Or Telephone Scams
Lethbridge: University of Lethbridge Off Campus Housing is warning landlords to be wary
of fraudulent internet or telephone scams.
A person is posing as a potential U of L student or parent of a student.
They make arrangements to pay their entire school term rental accommodations
in advance. If the landlord agrees, a fraudulent cheque or money order will be sent,
which can take about a month to be cleared through the banks. Meanwhile, the fraudster will ask some of the money be sent back for a number
To avoid the scam, it's suggested landlords don't send any money back until
