Use Of Force By Police Discussed At Recent SACPA Session

Lethbridge: Despite a few high profile cases of use of force by police over the last few years, a former city judge doesn't feel these incidents are on the rise.

Vaughan Hembroff was the speaker at a recent SACPA session and feels, in general, police are using force when it needs to happen, but says there are bad apples in every barrel. Hembroff adds there are certain situations when the use of force by police is necessary. If they have to be heavy handed to stop someone from killing somebody...they just have to do it...that's their job and it's not a pleasant one.

Hembroff thinks media reports play a major role in people's views towards the police, but says you don't fully understand the situation until you hear all the facts.
