New Skatepark Already Getting Strong Reviews

LETHBRIDGE: Skateboarders have been out in full force recently, taking advantage of the new SLP Skate Park, built next to the Henderson Ice Centre along Mayor Magrath Drive.

While there's still some landscaping work and finishing touches to address, the park has now been open to the public for almost two weeks.

Since the park opened January 9th, it's remained busy with skateboarders still using it long after dark.

Country 95 News stopped by the park, to hear what skateboarders had to say. Jason was the first person we talked to, and he went over a few of his highlights after using the park, "For me it's the bowl and how it flows and how you can pump the lines around the bowl and you can really use the park to keep speed up, and you can get speed all around and you can keep your speed and flow all over the park."

Levi also had no shortage of praise for the park, adding that the design makes it ideal for everyone, "I've been having fun on it, I'm just trying to get back into it a bit. It's a good place to learn, I mean it's not to extreme for kids, but it also has stuff for the guys who are more advanced."

Several skateboarders did note that the park could have been a little bigger, however that was the only criticism offered up.

A grand opening for the skatepark is expected to come in the spring or summer.
