Paul Martin Helps Launch Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program

BLOOD RESERVE - Former Prime Minister Paul Martin was at the Kainai High School today to help launch an Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

It's a partnership with the Martin Aboriginal Educational Initiative and Scotiabank to encourage Grade 11 and 12 students to stay in school and go on to post secondary education.

In the program, teachers use innovative, hands-on learning techniques to help aboriginal students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school, business, and life, while respecting their cultural heritage.

Martin says "the purpose of this course is to teach these students about how to be entrepreneurs, how to be business people, how to basically do marketing, do accounting, how basically to design an idea and then get out and sell it, how to take the initiative."

He adds more importantly it provides young First Nation students with an equal opportunity to succeed.
