Businessman Seeking Conservative Nomination In Macleod Riding

LETHBRIDGE - Businessman Scott Wagner is seeking the Conservative Party nomination in the Macleod riding. It's been vacant since Ted Menzies stepped down late last year.

Wagner grew up in the small farming community of Oyen, Alberta and now lives in Springbank, west of Calgary.

Wagner wants to focus on the economy during the nomination. He says "there's some issues that have been developing over the last couple years, specifically around the oil and gas industry and also the beef industry, and access to markets are an issue. We also have a problem in this nation with regards to youth unemployment."

Wagner has submitted his nomination papers to officials of the Conservative Party of Canada, with a nomination vote expected to take place around March 3, 2014. A by-election will be held later in the spring.
