Group Rallies Against Closure Of Veteran Affairs Offices

LETHBRIDGE - A small group rallied at the Lethbridge Cenotaph on Friday morning, protesting the decision to close eight veteran affairs service branch offices across the country.

Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the local Canadian Union of Postal Workers joined the cause.

Union President James Finnigan says these closures will increase the distance of travel for veterans to get support. Even though Lethbridge does not have one of these offices, he says the group wanted to show veterans that communities all across Canada are being affected by austerity programs and service cuts.
