Man Accused in Hit and Run Granted Bail

LETHRBIDGE: 30-year old Edward James Mikla, accused in a hit and run early last Sunday morning, has been released on $1,000 bail.

Mikla had to surrender his drivers license and passport and is prohibited from driving, with the exception of operating machinery on his work site. Mikla must also remain in Alberta and provide Regional Police with his work schedule.

On Tuesday Mikla turned himself in to police and his black Nissan Titan truck was seized.

The 45-year-old victim, Lorne Miller, remains in critical condition in a Calgary hospital after being found in the northbound lanes of the Stafford overpass before 3:00-am on Sunday.

Mikla will be back in court February 27th.
