Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande’s fiance & tattoo buddy for life, is in hot water for a joke he made last year at a comedy club in LA. It was in regards to the Manchester terrorist bombing that happened at her concert in England on May 22nd. 22 people died and 59 others were injured. Ariana was traumatized by the attack as well and spent a lot of time in the aftermath, sending condolences to fans, the victims and their families. She visited many of her wounded fans in the hospital as well. It took her months to get over the nightmare & it’s really weird that Pete would go there in a comedy sketch. Basically he told his audience at the Laugh Factory that Ariana should know how famous she is because “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”
Yikes! I’m so glad I wasn’t there to witness that faux pas. Twitter is raging & the mother of a young girl who was killed says his joke was “disgusting”. Pete says it was taken out of context. He lost his own father in the 9/11 terrorist attack and this is how he deals with tragedy. Humour is how he’s always been able to cope through dark times. Ariana feels conflicted about the joke of course, but backs up her fiancĂ© as she understands his M.O. & insists “he only wants to make people laugh and feel better through the screwed up things that happen in the world.” She says his heart is in the right place – it’s just unfortunate he ‘went there’ in his comedy routine. We’ll see if this all blows over in the next few days or if he’ll be dealing with more fallout. I’m sure he wishes he could take it all back. A tough life lesson for sure, with the whole world watching. – April
