After Victoria’s Secret’s Chief Marketing Officer made comments that seemed to invalidate & exclude the LGBTQ+ community from being a part of their shows, Halsey responded from the heart & made it very clear where she stands saying “Complete & total acceptance is the only ‘fantasy’ that I support.” The pop star who was one of the performers at last night’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show posted on Instagram, wrapping up her support with “If you are a trans person reading this… please know that you have allies.”
Ed Razek told Vogue in November that he didn’t think they should have transsexuals in their show. Adding he felt “the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world.”
Halsey learned of his opinion after filming the holiday special & has zero tolerance for a lack of inclusivity for the trans gender community. As it turns out, Razek later apologised after the backlash, saying: “To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model in our show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings… And like many others, they didn’t make it.”
Here’s to hoping the negative attention helps Victoria’s Secret to grow & learn while also paving the way for the LGBTQ+ community to have their time on the runway. – April
